Starting Point: Hydra (Town)
Trail 4 is essentially a short circular hike and starts from the port of Hydra, by the clock tower, where the trails main map is located. Soon it ascends along the cobblestone alleys towards the east, passing by traditional mansions and churches, to exit the town of Hydra onto a trail that ascends towards the chapel of Stavros. Stepping for a shortwhile onto a gravel road it then turns onto a trail again facing towards the sea to begin its descend to Mandraki. Coming onto the road and the first houses it follows the road to the cove at the beach of Mandraki. There, during the Greek Independece War, at either side of the entrance of the cove, two small forts, of which only remnants survive, had been built for the protection of the cove that acted as a harbour for the rebel fleet. The return to the town of Hydra takes place via the coastal road towards the port, passing in front of the Historical archives Museum of Hydra building.
